A Level Business Studies at Moseley Park
WHO IS IT FOR?
For students who have an interest in developing a critical understanding of organisations, the markets they serve and the process of adding value. Students will develop skills including decision making and problem solving and be aware of the current structure of business and business practice.
Planning and Financing a Business, 40% of AS, 20% of A Level.
Managing a Business, 60% of AS, 30% of A Level.
Strategies for Success 25% of A Level.
The Business Environment and Managing Change, 25% of A Level.
GCSE Maths and English at grade B or above. Previous Business courses are not necessary.
Two 1 hour 45 minute exams
One 1 hour 30 minute exam
One 1 hour 15 minute exam
An A Level in Business Studies will provide routes to undergraduate courses to study at a wide range of universities. Undergraduate courses in Business are commonly Business Management based with the option to combine modules such as Finance, Marketing, HR, Law, Economics and Entrepreneurship. Students with degrees in Business related courses have the option to study postgraduate courses such as a masters in Business or enter careers in Banking and Finance, Management or Human Resources. Students will also acquire the relevant skills and knowledge to start-up their own business.
Students with an A Level in Business Studies also have to option to apply for apprenticeships which will provide the opportunity to train within the workplace. This is about playing an important support role within a business or organisation. Roles include:
- Administration Officer / Executive
- Personal Assistant
- Legal Secretary
- Medical Secretary
Students studying Business can progress onto many different careers including the Legal Profession, Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting and Finance and Retail Management.
