Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical (Level 3) Advanced Apprenticeship at Central College Nottingham

Course description

The programme covers the technical and practical needs for today’s Motor Vehicle Electrical Repair industry. It provides the advanced technical knowledge for people working on light vehicles (cars and vans) in all types of vehicle repair facilities.

Course content

You will study both the theory and practical aspects of the following:

  • Fit Auxiliary Security Devices
  • Removal and Refit of Electrical, Mechanical and Trim Components
  • Materials and Tools
  • Diagnose and Rectify Auxiliary, Engine and Transmission Electrical Faults
  • Undertake Vehicle Inspections
  • Agree Customer Service Needs
  • Health and Safety
  • Functional Skills English and Maths

English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.

Entry requirements

You will need to be employed in a Vehicle Repair Shop carrying out appropriate tasks. In addition applicants must have achieved 4 GCSEs at grades A* to C and a Level 2 Auto Electrical qualification or other equivalent qualification.

Assessment

For each module you will need to complete coursework, written assignments, practical assessments, online tests and work based observations.

Future opportunities

Subject to meeting the subject criteria you will be able to move onto a Higher Apprenticeship or specialist training to further improve your knowledge and skills.

Further information

To be an Advanced Apprentice Auto Electrician you must be employed in an Automotive Repair shop working a minimum of 30 hours per week.
