Art & Design at The Henry Box School

Course description

The Art and Design ‘A' level course is exciting, diverse and challenging. While some work is structured and directed, students also have the freedom to develop work individually. Emphasis is placed on individual learning, creativity and personal responses. At Henry Box the integrity, positive attitude, commitment to study and initiative shown by students is exceptional and results in exciting, personal work being developed.Workshop sessions are used to teach new techniques and skills, and investigate different media especially at A/S. Some work is designed to be deliberately open-ended, to challenge and encourage a creative a response. Discussion is encouraged to develop ideas, form reasoned judgement and express opinions. Students are encouraged to study and interact with a diverse range of work by other artists, especially on the study visits. Discussion and good communication between teachers and students is very important. Fine Art Area of Areas of Study offered at Henry Box

Entry requirements

The A-level courses are academically demanding and in order to cope successfully students must have achieved good GCSE results. Our minimum entry requirement is therefore an average of 42 GCSE points, including a 'C' grade in English Language. As a general guide, most subjects require a minimum GCSE grade B in the subject to be studied.
