Joinery and Carpentry at Entry Level 3, Level 1 Award and Level 1 Certificate at CDC

Course description

The Entry Level 3 Award in Carpentry and Joinery has been developed for delivery in a training environment and has been designed to:

Introduce learners to the construction industry

Help learners to decide what area of the industry they would like to work in

Develop learners skills and knowledge at this level

Prepare learners for taking further qualifications to enable them to enter the industry in their chosen craft.

 

The Level 1 Award and Certificate  in Carpentry and Joinery has been developed for delivery in a training environment and has been designed to:

Develop learners skills and knowledge at this level.

Prepare learners to enter the industry in their chosen craft.

Prepare learners to take further qualifications to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding within their chosen craft.  

Course content

Entry Level 3 units:

Carpentry and Joinery Skills

Clear and Store Carpentry and Joinery Tools and Equipment

Health and safety in construction trades

Prepare to Carry Out Carpentry and Joinery

 

Level 1 Award units:

Carpentry and joinery skills

Clear and store carpentry and joinery tools and equipment

Health and safety in construction trades

Prepare to carry out carpentry and joinery

Working and communicating effectively in construction trades  

 

Level 1 Certificate units:

Construct woodworking joints

Fit architrave and skirting

Fit ironmongery to an internal door

Health and safety in construction trades

Working and communicating effectively in construction trades  

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements (i.e. qualifications a learner must have achieved) to take this qualification.

This qualification is accredited on the QCF for learners aged Pre 16, 16-18 and 19+.

Approved Centres must ensure learners are fully aware of the minimum age requirements of this qualification.

Assessment

Learner Workbooks have been developed for each individual qualification, which gives us the flexibility to assess learners in the manner which best suits you.

This gives us the option to sign learners off on a unit-by-unit basis to aid with retention and recognise every learner’s achievements.

The Learner Workbooks contain both the knowledge and practical aspects of these qualifications, completion of the Workbook will ensure that all assessment criteria are met by the Learner.

Each Workbook has a supporting Trainer Workbook which gives guidance and exemplar answers for the Trainer to follow.

 

Financial information

16-18 year olds are fully funded

Not all students after 18 may need to pay fees, depending on your circumstances.

Future opportunities

This Entry Level 3, Level 1 Award and Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery will enable and/or prepare the learner to progress in their chosen trade and on completion of this qualification, learners may progress: 

To undertake further training in one of Cskills Awards qualifications:

Level 1 Certificate Learners may progress to a Level 1 or Level 2 Diploma.

Into a Traineeship to develop their skills.

To an Apprenticeship.
