ICT-Cambridge Technicals in IT Level 3 at Nene Park Academy

Course description

The Cambridge Technicals are vocational qualifications designed with the workplace in mind and provide a high quality alternative to A Levels.

The course will deliver refreshing and exciting content that is up to dat, engaging, fit for purpose and siutable for students' needs. The qualification has been developed in consultation with universities, employers and industry specialists to make sure that students will gain the right combination of knowledge, understanding and skills required for the 21st century. 

Course content

The course has a wide range of centre assessed units with practical and wider project-based assessment opportunities. In addition, there are examinable units on the Fundamentals of IT, Global Information, and Cyber Security. The content has resulted in a focused qualifications which, dependent on the size chosen, either complement a Key Stage 5 study programme alongside other vocational qualifications, A Levels, or may constitute the bulk of a two-year study programme.

 

The Diplomas have four vocational pathways within them that can be followed where one pathway must be achieved. The pathways include:

-          IT Infrastructure Technician

-          Emerging Digital Technology Practitioner

-          Application Developer

-          Data Analyst

 

Dependent on the vocational pathway the following are units that can be covered:

-          Fundamentals of IT

-          Global Information

-          Cyber Security

-          Cloud Technology

-          Computer Networks

-          Virtual and Augmented Reality

-          Application Design

-          Data Analysis and Design

-          Project Management

 

IBM, Barclays, CompTIA and Cisco along with a number of colleges and HEIs have helped design the content for these pathways to ensure the units have refreshing and exciting content, that’s up to date, engaging, fit for purpose and suitable for the needs of students.

Entry requirements

Standard: Five GCSE subjects at a minimum grade 4 or the equivalent including Maths and English

Assessment

There will be a mixture of Coursework and examination.
