Mathematics at Sprowston Community High School

Course description

Maths is a deeply rewarding subject, the importance of which is recognised throughout society. An A Level in Maths will help you maximise your potential in the world of work or Higher Education and is well regarded by both. It supports, and in many cases is essential to, a wide range of subjects such as the sciences, engineering, computing, accountancy, geography, psychology, architecture and more.


THE COURSE

AS: 2 Pure Maths modules 1 Statistics module

A2: 2 Pure Maths modules 1 Mechanics module. SUCCESS A successful student will be positive and committed towards the subject and will be fluent with the fundamental algebraic techniques encountered at GCSE. An aptitude for independent study is expected and will be developed through the course.


FURTHER MATHS Further Maths is offered at both AS and A2 levels for the more able student. For those intending to do Maths or Maths-rich university degrees, this qualification should be seriously considered. It significantly broadens their mathematical experience, prepares the student more thoroughly for such degrees and is a well respected qualification.

Entry requirements

To study A Level courses you will need to have achieved at least 5 GCSE Grades A*-C in full courses including either English or Maths. B grade in GCSE Mathematics or higher.
