Computing and IT Level 1 Diploma at City College Coventry

Course description

Studying the Level 1 course makes use of commonly used IT tools that are required for routine activities carried out in the work place to improve productivity. You will be assessed by scenario based assignments, observation, professional discussions.

Course content

You will study one mandatory unit to show that you can improve productivity using IT. You will also study a range of technical subject areas such as:

  • Setting up an IT system
  • Optimising IT system performance
  • Security for IT Users

In addition will study several other software, business and creative units to from your Level 1 Diploma in IT:

  • Databases
  • PowerPoint
  • Design Software
  • Imaging software
  • Using the Internet
  • IT Software Fundamentals

This course will provide you with the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and knowledge in subjects that are valued many employers.

You will visit some exciting subject areas and have the opportunity to develop practical skills in many subject areas.

Entry requirements

4 GCSE’s Grade E or above (including English), or a Level 1 related qualification. A place on the course will be subject to a successful interview with the course organiser and a satisfactory reference.

This national qualification could help you progress onto the OCR Cambridge Technical Diploma Level 2 in IT or get a job or apprenticeship in:
