Government & Politics at Dereham Sixth Form College

Course description

Studying Government and Politics involves looking at the way people participate in political activity and the way the UK’s political system works. You will also look at some of the key political debates current in UK politics.

This is an excellent subject to study alongside Law, Business Studies or History, although it will go well with any humanities subject. It can also be a useful
contrasting subject to take with science subjects. Government and Politics develops essential skills such as analysis, evaluation and the ability to form clear
and balanced argument. For this reason the subject is welcomed by universities and can be a route into professions such as law, teaching, the civil service, local
government and journalism.

It is a popular subject that has been studied at the college for many years. Students who choose the course enjoy it and gain excellent results. We follow the Edexcel specification which provides an excellent introduction to the subject.
