Media - Creative Media Production TV and Film - Level 3 at North Kent College

Course description

Working closely with the Miskin Theatre, the Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production (TV and Film) offers access to high end professional training and facilities delivered by a diverse range of experienced industry practitioners. Trainees work to deliver a variety of productions with an emphasis on the vocational requirements of industry. This course is suitable for aspiring camera operators, directors, editors, producers, researchers and technicians for film and television.

Course content

Miskin Media produces a diverse array of live and set media productions. Trainees participate in 'real world' professional processes with an emphasis on attracting audiences and consumers. Media trainees will undertake projects which mirror the demands of this exciting and ever changing industry. Projects will cover areas such as advertisement, drama, factual programming, ident design, music video production, multi-cam live mixing and recordings and viral marketing. The use of social networking, are central to our working ethos. Trainees will also develop and refine an online portfolio/personal website, increasingly seen as a vital resource for progression either into university or employment. A recognition and understanding of career paths and employment opportunities are embedded in our work, offering trainees an insight and into the world of TV and film and the many roles within this industry.

Projects/processes include;

Trainees work on a range of projects and processes including Advertisement for television, Documentary film-making, single camera drama, music video production, viral video production and multi-cam studio programming as well as live visual mixing.

We work on projects for a variety of clients and our close links with the industry provide great contacts for our trainees to experience the work place.

5 GCSE (A-C Grades) or equivalent. Evidence of commitment to subject (assessed at interview)

Productions, Online Portfolio/Blogs, Practical Assignments

Financial information

£150 per year Miskin company contribution. Cost of materials (portable hard drive etc).

Future opportunities

Year 2 through successful completion of year 1; then Higher Education or Employment.
