Hair and Beauty Sector - Introduction (Level 1) at Skills for Growth

Course description

Level 1 Duration: 1 day per week (Friday) Description An introduction to working in a hair and beauty environment, presenting a professional image and a range of services that are offered. Components This course allows students to study the following areas: Presenting a Professional Image; Introduction to Hairdressing; Introduction to Colour; Shampooing and Conditioning; Plaiting and Styling. Assessment For all units there are practical observations and task based assignments. All units are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. Each unit has credit values which can lead to an award, certificate or diploma.

Entry requirements

Interview to be carried out by Skills for Growth’s vocational team. Interview to take place with young person and attended by parents/guardians as evidence that the parents or guardians support the pupil’s choice.

Future opportunities

Students can progress onto an Apprenticeship in Hairdressing or a Diploma Level 2
