Business Studies AS/A2 Level 3 at Highsted Grammar School
At AS Level, students are introduced to the challenges and issues of starting a business, including financial planning. The course then focuses on how established businesses might improve their effectiveness by making tactical decisions at a functional level. At A2 Level, students will consider strategies for larger businesses and how managers might measure the performance of the business. Students will also consider the effect that external factors can have on businesses and how a business can plan for and manage change, including leadership style and change in business culture.
To enhance and amplify learning and to put theoretical concepts into context, extensive use is made of current issues and developments in the business world highlighting the emphasis on independent research.
Grade B or above in both English and Mathematics at GCSE. AQA advised that this specification provides a smooth transition from GCSE Business Studies, although this is not a pre-requisite for studying AS/A-level Business Studies. No prior learning is necessary for candidates to undertake a course of study based on this specification. Applicants for this course who may be special cases will, of course, be assessed individually.
