Mathematics at Kesteven Grantham's Girl School

Course description

The emphasis of the course is on using and applying Mathematics, and taking responsibility for their own learning. The AS specification has been selected to develop abilities to reason logically, and to understand the relationship between ‘real world’ problems and mathematical models.

The AS Maths course is often divided into three separate modules:

  • Core 1: Includes: Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Differentiation
  • Core 2: Includes: Integration, Sequences and Series, Trigonometry, Exponentials and Logarithms.
  • Statistics 1: Includes: Discrete Random Variables, Probability, Binomial Distribution, Poisson Distribution, Continuous Random Variables.

  • Entry requirements

    The normal criteria for entry are: Passes at A*- C in both English and mathematics 6 A*- B grade GCSEs A grade B or above in the subjects you wish to study at Advanced level.
