Floristry Diploma Level 3 at St Helens College

Course description

This advanced course is suitable for those wishing to build on their existing skills and knowledge.

You will develop an understanding of the importance of marketing, sales and the customer service skills required for working in the floristry industry.

Course content

In addition to completing 80 hours of work experience, you will cover the following areas:

  • Diverse flower and plant care
  • Creative design process for florists
  • Diverse tied floral designs
  • Diverse floral designs for weddings and formal occasions
  • Diverse floral designs for funerals
  • Diverse floral arrangements
  • Negotiate and agree terms of sale within the industry
  • Function and event decorating using floral designs
  • Working in the industry

Entry requirements

You must have a level 2 floristry qualification and alternatively, St Helens College will consider applicants with relevant industry experience.

English and maths forms an important part of your future, ensuring you achieve the best success in your chosen career. But don't worry, if you haven't got the desired grades, we will still have a course available for you.

Assessment

You will be assessed by written and practical assessments.

Financial information

If you are a school leaver, aged 16‐18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2016), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation.

Future opportunities

Upon successful completion of this course, you may wish to secure employment within the floristry industry or progress on to our HND in Business at University Centre St Helens.

A diploma in Floristry could help you to become:

  • An assistant florist
  • A wedding flower coordinator
  • A funeral home flower arranger
  • A flower shop supervisor/manager

After taking these qualifications, you could go on to a level 4 Higher Diploma in Floristry or a level 5 Master Diploma in Professional Floristry.

Alternatively, you could go on to take the level 4 NVQ in Floristry Business Management.

These further qualifications could give you the skills and knowledge you need to run your own flower shop.
