Course content

The pupils will study the following Units at AS :

  • Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Acquiring movement skills.
  • Socio-Cultural Studies relating to participation in Physical Activity.
  • The improvement of Effective Performance and the Critical Evaluation of practical activities in Physical Education.

The pupils will study the following Units at A2 :

  • Exercise Physiology.
  • Historical Studies.
  • Sport Psychology.
  • The improvement of effective performance and the critical evaluation of practical activities in Physical Education.

Entry requirements

B in GCSE Physical Education.

Assessment

The pupils will be assessed through examinations, coursework and practical performance. Written examinations take place in June for each module of the course. The practical elements will be assessed throughout the year and final assessments will be made on Moderation day.
