Religious Studies AS/A Level at The Maelor School

Course description

Religious Studies at Maelor Sixth focuses on religion in contemporary society and study of the New Testament. As a subject, RS allows for personal reflection, discussion, the formation of argument and the debating of relevant ethical ideas. Studying RS allows you to deepen your thoughts and ideas, challenge traditional concepts and arguments and articulate your reasoning and evaluation of moral issues.

There is no requirement to have studied RS before although it would be helpful to have studied another humanities subject or RS short course. RS is a useful complement to other humanities subjects or arts subjects or to add breadth to a suite of science subjects.

Religious Studies is a good choice for students looking to progress into careers such as teaching (including primary education), law, journalism, medicine (at AS or as a fourth A level) and social work amongst many others.

Entry requirements

5A*-C at GCSE in at least four different subjects, including English Language; C in RS if studied.
