Hairdressing Apprenticeship Level 2 at Bath College

Course description

This course provides a great foundation for a career as a hairdresser. If you are interested in fashion and grooming and you are considering a career in hairdressing, whether in a salon or as a freelance stylist, session stylist or working on cruise ships this course will equip you with the latest skills and know-how. You will learn how to advise and consult with clients, how to shampoo and condition hair professionally, how to create a range of styles from different cutting, colouring and styling techniques as well as product promotion. After successfully completing the course, you will be a qualified hairdresser. You will attend College on a day release basis whilst working in a salon.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade D or above

Assessment

Assessment of the NVQ is carried out in the workplace and at college and the assessor will help you to identify any gaps through exercises and activities set between assessment visits.

The functional skills elements will be assessed in college with a tutor.

Future opportunities

The qualification allows a candidate to progress to either the workplace as detailed above or onto specialised qualifications at the same, or higher level.
