Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Management Level 2 IMI Diploma at Harrogate College

Course description

Will study a mixture of theory and practical throughout the course.  Classroom time is spent learning the operation of various vehicle components, and further time is spent in the vehicle workshops working on engines, vehicle rigs and cars.  

Course content

You will learn to remove and replace components e.g. brake pads and discs, suspension and steering components through to, and including, timing belts.  
You will also be required to improve your English, Maths and ICT skills up to GCSE grade C or equivalent.

Key areas of study:
• Health & Safety practices, tools and equipment
• Operation of spark and compression ignition systems
• Components and operations of various engine systems
• Maintenance and operations of chassis systems
• Drive line maintenance

Entry requirements

Level 1 IMI Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance or GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above, with a keen interest in the motor vehicle industry. GCSE in ICT is desirable.

Future opportunities

On completion of the course students will be invited to apply to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Maintenance and Repair Principles or the VCQ Level 2 as an Apprentice if you get a job within the motor industry.
