Skills for Life - Life Skills (Entry Level 2) at Hopwood Hall College

Course description

This provision is designed for students who want to gain some qualifications in a mixture of life/vocational/ functional skills or in a chosen vocational area.
 
The course is nationally accredited and offers a variety of opportunities including enrichment, work placements, sports, trips, visits and guest speakers.

Course content

This course accommodates young students who have challenges/barriers to entering education, employment or training. It will help develop the necessary skills for independence in order to make positive decisions about your future which may or may not involve a working life. Students will also gain functional skills in English, maths and ICT at an appropriate level.

• Home management
• Dealing with problems in everyday life
• Social relationships
• Managing money
• Using public transport
• Supported employment opportunities
• E2 Diploma in independent living
• Work in the THinc Café

No formal qualifications.

Financial information

No cost for 16-19 year olds.

Aftr completing this course the next stage is to progress onto the Life Skills Plus, Work Skills programme or vocational areas within college.

      By Road: 
      The Middleton Campus is two miles from junction 20 on the M62. Take the A627(M) towards Oldham and leave at first junction and follow signs to Middleton.
      By Rail: 
      The Castleton rail station is 2 miles from the Middleton campus, and takes around ten minutes to reach by bus.
      By Bus: 
      The No. 17 bus service runs frequent between Rochdale and Manchester approximately every ten minutes and stops at the entrance to the Middleton Campus.
