Site Carpentry Cskills Level 2 Diploma at Grantham College

Course description

This course is designed as a training programme and is suitable for those who want to pursue a career in the construction industry as a carpenter.

Course content

The course involves both practical training and theoretical activities and covers the following core units:

  • Building methods & construction technology
  • Erecting structural carcassing
  • Information, quantities & communication
  • Using a circular saw
  • Maintenance
  • Second fixing

The programme also includes: Enrichment and Functional Skills.

Entry requirements

Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery and a successful interview.


Synoptic practical tasks, a series of knowledge questions for each unit and a multi - choice online end test.

Financial information

Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.  Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this programme will allow you to progress on to the Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry or to seek employment in the construction industry and study for a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations - Site Carpentry.
