Further Mathematics A Level at Ralph Thoresby School

Course description

This course is delivered as part of the partnership between the Sixth Forms across Ralph Thoresby School and Lawnswood School.

Entry requirements

This is studied along side A-Level mathematics and is aimed at students that have a gained A or A* at GCSE.


The course is examined by six modular exams – usually three are taken in Year 12 and three in Year 13.  Exams are taken in June of each year.

Future opportunities

An A level in Further Mathematics is a very valuable qualification respected by many employers. Pupils who have a Further Mathematics qualification show that they have a real talent in the subject and excellent to have if you wish to study Mathematics and University or go into a maths oriented career. Mathematics is used both directly and indirectly in many careers such as accountancy, architecture market research and medicine.
