Course description

The level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with and care for children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.

Course content

The aim of the qualification is to confirm the learner’s competence to work in a level 3 role. It requires the learner to demonstrate the full application skills, knowledge and understanding. This qualification will guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to early years.

You will complete:

Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education

GCSE English

GCSE Maths

Level 2 Functional Skills ICT

Level 2 Certificate in Employee Rights and Responsibilities

Entry requirements

GCSE English and Maths at a grade D or above.


Learners will assessed on both knowledge and practical skills and will be required to attend a taught lesson for a minimum of one day per week.

Those learners who do not have GCSE maths and English at a grade C or above will also be required to attend English and/or Maths lessons and sit a GCSE exam.

Upon achievement of this qualification learners will hold a full and relevant qualification enabling them to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators or progress to Higher Education.
