Sociology (A Level) at Broadway Academy
AS Sociology provides students with an introduction to the subject of Sociology, its themes and perspectives. Whilst students sociological skills are being developed they will study the formation of their cultures and identity which leads on to the exam topics of the sociology of Families and Households and Education with Sociological methods.
You will sit two exams, both in the summer term (May or June)
In their second year A2 students will progress on to the topics of Beliefs in Society and Crime and Deviance with Sociological Theory and Methodology. This enables students to demonstrate their developed view of society and how it is affected by individuals and groups. Again you will sit two exams, both in the summer term.
SCLY1: Family and Households is equal to 40% of the AS course.
SCLY2: Education and Sociological Methods is equal to 60% of the AS course.
SCLY3: Beliefs in Society is equal to 40% of the A2 course.
SCLY4: Crime and Deviance with Sociological Theory and Methodology this is equal to 60% of the A2 course.
5 GCSEs grade A* - C (including English)
Both AS and A2 have two exams in the summer term.
Social worker, Teacher, Governmental research, Lecturer, Charity work, Politics,
Human resource management, Probation, Journalism, Advertising,
Religious organisations, Counselling Housing officer, Corporate research,
Governmental services, Marketing.
