Retail - Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship (EDI) at Blackpool and The Fylde College

Course description

Retail covers a host of businesses, from market stalls and independent shops to national chains and large superstores. The Intermediate Level Apprenticeship and Advanced Level Apprenticeship cover a range of skills that can be used across this vast sector. As an apprentice, your role will depend on your employer – you could be assisting customers on the sales floor of a high street store or handling their purchases. Alternatively, you could be working in a specialist department and become a product expert, able to help with specific queries. An artistic flare could point you in the direction of visual merchandising, helping to create window and in-store displays. Or you could work behind the scenes in stock handling; ensuring products are received in the correct quantities and appropriately stored.

What’s covered – Customer service Selling and product knowledge Merchandise handling, storage and display Personal and organisational effectiveness in the retail sector plus choose from: Helping customers; Receiving goods and storage; Health and safety in a work environment.

Entry requirements

To apply for the Level 2 Apprenticeship in Retail there are no entry restrictions as retailers employ individuals from all abilities. Employers are looking for applicants who have a keen interest in providing high levels of customer service and can be flexible with their skills. You will be invited to attend an Interview with the related Curriculum area to give advice and guidance about the job role and qualification. You will be required to undertake initial assessments in maths and English. To be an apprentice you need to be working a minimum of 30 hours per week in the related occupation of your chosen apprenticeship.
