History of Art A-level at Springwood High School

Course description

A-level History of Art looks at the art of the Western World, providing students with the framework to analyse, investigate and interpret the artwork from classical Greece right up to the end of the Twentieth century.

Course content

Studying History of Art unlocks the meanings of art, sculpture and architecture within the context of Western art, enabling us to comprehend artistic choices in a more sophisticated way.

Entry requirements

5 A*- C grades at GCSE including Maths and English. Grade B in English, History or Humanities is also required.

Assessment

Year 12: 

HART 1 - 40% of AS 20% A2  - 1 HR written exam

HART 2 - 60% of AS 30 % A2 - 1HR 30 min written exam

Year 13: 

HART 3 - 25% A2 - 1 HR 30 min written exam - 60 marks

HART 4 - 25% A2 - 1 HR 30 min written exam - 60 marks
