Health and Social Care GCSE at Ormskirk School

Course description

It is important that you have a lively and enquiring mind, an interest in Health & Social Care, a willingness to explore new ideas and an ability to communicate your ideas effectively. The GCSE Double Award in Health and Social Care is made up of 3 units, each worth one third of the total marks. They are equivalent to 2 GCSE’s and are graded as a double award on a scale A*, A* - G G.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for an NVQ Level 1 or 2 in a related subject and depending on your other qualifications, you could progress onto courses leading to the Advanced GCE in Art and Design or Applied Health & Social Care. With further training, you could go into a job in the caring sector. You could also go straight into employment as the course is delivered through a work-based training programme, will help you develop the skills, knowledge and understanding that employers in the care sectors are looking for.
