A2 Level : Religious Studies at English Martyrs Catholic School

Course description

A study of the Philosophy of Religion and religious ethics.  These studies include the existence of God, the problem of evil, miracles, critiques of religion, life after death and religious language.  In religious ethics a study is made of different approaches of making ethical decisions, the relationship between morality and religion, this is then applied to issues of war and peace, sexual ethics and crime and punishment.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE including English, RE at least a grade C


Papers at A2 one being based on an anthology of philosophical texts.

Future opportunities

Regarded well by most universities, especially Law schools.  Very useful for anyone going into teaching both secondary and primary and anyone considering a career in medicine.
