Games and Digital Academy Level 2 at West Lancashire College
This new and exciting Academy will prepare you with the skills and knowledge for a range of careers in one of the fastest growing industries in the UK.
There are two pathways at Level 2 in our Games and Digital Academy which share the common goal of providing students with the skills they need to progress onto our Level 3 Games and Digital Academy. One pathway is designed for those students interested in progressing into employment in the IT / digital industries and the second is for those who want to develop their art skills using traditional and digital media.
L2 Digital Academy IT:

L2 Digital Academy Art &Design:
> Graphic design
> Digital graphics
> Traditional 2D and 3D media
You will develop skills on both PC and Apple Mac Suites, with industry standard software and the latest technology.
Learners will undertake a period of work experience appropriate to your course as part of the programme of study.
Maths and English will be part of your programme of study and you will study qualifications in Maths and English, appropriate to your level of ability, alongside your chosen course.
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above (preferably including both English and Maths) and / or a Level 1 Diploma in a related subject.
This is a practical course, assessment is based primarily on coursework produced in IT suites and / or art studios. All units are graded individually and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded (Pass, Merit or Distinction).
Following completion of the Level 2 qualification those learners who gain an overall Merit grade will have direct entry onto one of our Level 3 Games and Digital Academy pathways, or onto a Level 3 BTEC in IT, or a Level 3 BTEC in Art & Design.
Future employment options could include: Games Designer, Graphic Designer, IT Technician, Web Designer, Animator, App Developer, Computer Programmer or Software Developer.
