Construction and the Built Environment Apprenticeship Level 3 (CON1) at Barnsley College

Course description

This apprenticeship is aimed at those who want to pursue a professional career in the construction and built environment industry. The construction industry currently has a high demand for skilled workers.

Course content

You will study units from the list below which relate to your job role. You will also study:

•Employment, Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) booklet

•Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths

•Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)


•Health and safety

•Sustainable Construction

•Mathematics in Construction

•Science and materials in Construction

•Construction technology and design

•Building technology and construction

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade A* to C, including English, maths at grade 4 or above.

plus employed or written offer of employment in the construction industry

plus Pre-admission assessments


You will be assessed by your assessor using assignments and a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstrations and assignments. You will be assessed both in College and in your place of work.
