Physical Education at Sir William Robertson Academy

Course description

If you wish to take this subject you should have a keen interest in sport and recreation, an enquiring mind and be interested in sport around the world. Prior experience of coaching or officiating would offer a distinct advantage to students, as would an ability to play at least one sport to a high standard. You should want to know more about the body functions and the effects of exercise and want to evaluate and improve your own performance in a range of sports roles.

Several topics covered in the course are developments of work covered in the GCSE PE course. Therefore it is generally expected that students will have passed GCSE PE with a minimum of a BB or B grade. In exceptional cases, students with a C grade may be allowed to join the course provided they have strong support from their teachers.

Entry requirements

The minimum entry requirement to get on a full AdvancedLevel programme at Sir William Robertson Sixth Form is 5GCSE grades at A*-C including English and Maths.

We would also normally expect you to have at least a grade C at GCSE, where taken, in the subject or course you wishto take at Advanced Level.

Where the GCSE has not been taken, the Core and/or a related GCSE will be used todetermine suitability.
