Sociology at King Charles I School

Course description

Sociology is one of the most important subjects you can study! It enables you to ask questions about the world around you and teaches you the skills to come up with some of the answers! Topics such as ‘Mass Media’, ‘Youth Culture’ as well as ‘Criminology’ will should give you a flavour of some of the areas that we study.

Although Sociology is a demanding academic subject, you will be taught in an engaging and interesting way, opening your eyes to the world around you through activities such as podcasts, field trips, website analysis, instructional videos and even fancy dress!

Sociology will allow you to explore the world around you, looking at areas such as the representation of Women in the Media, why individuals commit crimes, the harm done to individuals by living in families as well many other topics.

Entry requirements

The main requirement for taking Sociology is a passion and commitment to examining the world around you.

The course demands that students work hard and question assumptions that they currently have or experiences they may have in the future.

In terms of qualifications, 5 A*-C grade qualifications are a minimum with an English qualification (or equivalent) at a B grade level.
