Course content

What you'll learn

You will gain valuable experience watching and learning from top coaches in an enriching and supportive environment, including the opportunity to visit different Premiership/European football clubs.

You’ll be able to apply the theories of coaching and your organisation, communication and leadership skills by assisting an experienced coach in a practical community-coaching scheme arranged by the College. You’ll also have the chance to play regularly in 5-a-side and 11-a-side tournaments.

We encourage our students to continue their English & maths study to Level 3.

Elements of study

Your programme consists of the following elements:

  • Study of your chosen vocational subject (50% of your programme)
  • English and maths (continued until the achievement of GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent)
  • Employability skills (e.g. punctuality, attendance, communication and team work)
  • Work experience (giving you a taste of working life)
  • Tutorial & personal development (e.g. healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills)

Entry requirements

We ask you to have at least two GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above and a reasonable standard of football ability. You should also be committed and enthusiastic about a career in football coaching.

We will ask you to attend an interview and provide a satisfactory school reference.

Throughout the course you’ll undertake continual assessment and you’ll submit a written portfolio.
