Health and Social Care Level 2 BTEC at New College Durham
You will gain a range of skill and knowledge from studying on this busy course. It is ideal for anyone who wants to progress to further study in the Health and Social Care sector. You will gain a solid understanding of Health and Social Care, covering areas such as lifespan development, health and social care values, effective communication skill, healthy living, equality and diversity enabling you to develop skills relevant to work in health and social care. You will be required to undertake a work placement.
You will study core and mandatory units. This will help you gain a solid understanding of Health and Social Care, covering areas such as the human lifespan development, individual needs in Health and Social Care, communication skill, healthy living, equality and diversity and individual rights in health and social care. You will also study sector specific units to develop skills relevant to work in health and social care, anatomy and physiology and the impact of diet in health.
60 hours work experience in at least 2 different placements is a compulsory requirement of the course.
Functional Skills will also form part of your programme of study. Functional Skills are the core elements of English and Math's that will provide learners with essential skills, knowledge and an understanding of how these areas of study operate within the wider context. They are delivered alongside the main programme and are independently assessed through exams.
You must have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade D or above, ideally including English and Maths but not essential (or an equivalent related qualification).You must also have a clear DBS (formerly CRB), which is essential for placement requirements. You will also need to attend an interview.
This course allows the individual to achieve the level 2 in Health and Social Care, you may progress onto the Level 3 Health and Social Care, Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education, an Apprenticeship in Care or Early Years or full time employment.Related careers
