Plastering - CSkills Awards Level 1 Diploma in Plastering at Calderdale College
A level 1 diploma will enable the learner to acquire the knowledge and understanding that will help them to gain employment in the Plastering trade.
This is a practical and theory based course which consists of you working through a number of work based units. Some of these units are: Know how to carry out safe working practices in construction; Knowledge of building methods and construction technology; Know how to apply plaster materials to internal backgrounds; Know how to produce components from moulds; Knowledge of information, quantities and communicating with others. There are 7 units in total to complete which includes an external test at the end of the course. At the end of this qualification you will have a good degree of knowledge on Plastering.
Teaching is mainly practically based with lectures and demonstrations in the specialist workshops. Learners will also participate in individual and group tutorials in order to discuss their progress.
All applicants will be required to have successfully completed the Preparation for Employment in the Construction Industry (19+) or the Certificate in Introduction to the Construction Industry or the Foundation Certificate in building Craft Occupations (16-18)
Practical assessment is continual throughout the course with job knowledge tests at the end of each unit. There are also two short answer written paper tests to assess knowledge and understanding.

In most cases students aged 18 and under who wish to enrol on a full time further education course will have their fees waived. Students who are aged 19 and over and who wish to enrol on a full time course should contact our Student Services Team on 01422-399367 for more information.
All successful students may have the opportunity to progress onto a Plastering Diploma Level 2 or an NVQ Level 2 through the work based evidence route. Employment opportunities could include an apprenticeship in your chosen trade area.
