Sociology - A Level at Cordeaux Academy

Course description

Sociology is the study of society and the groups that exist within it. It allows us to think about the ways in which society shapes us, and how we can shape society. If you enjoy being challenged by new ideas, enjoy discussion and have an interest in the politics of today, this course is for you.

Entry requirements

We would expect A-level Sociology candidates to be in possession of a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C, with a minimum grade B in

English. A second essay based qualification, such as English Literature or History, is desirable. There is no requirement to have studied psychology at GCSE level.

Future opportunities

Sociology works well with subjects such as English, Health and Social Care, Psychology and History. It provides an excellent springboard to Higher Education and employment in careers such as law, journalism, business and social work.
