Health and Social Care BTEC level 2 at Frome Community College
This course will help you to gain a broad understanding of health, social care and early years working environments. You will develop skills, knowledge and understanding in health, social care and early years. You will have an opportunity to apply learning in a practical and realistic way, whilst following a programme of study that enables progression to both further Sixth Form study and employment in health and social care. The course will help you develop skills that are highly valued by employers and universities and gain confidence by developing independent learning skills.
The following units are studied for this qualification:
Unit 1 Human lifespan development
Unit 2 Health and social care values
Unit 3 Effective communication in health and social care
Unit 6 The impact of nutrition on health and wellbeing
This BTEC qualification will be assessed through one written exam for Unit 1: human lifespan development. The exam will take place in May of Year 12.
You will also be expected to complete written assignments that will be set for each of the remaining units.
You will be expected to undertake study at home to support your learning and prepare for your assignments.
You will also be expected to meet the deadlines that your teachers set for handing your work in. If you do not meet the deadlines, you will not pass your qualification.
The Level 2 ‘GCSE Plus’ Foundation Year Programme has been successfully running for a number of years and has grown considerably in the past two years.
Many students, having completed this year, continue at Frome Sixth Form for another two years to complete Level 3 subjects. The government funds students for three years of sixth form study and it is the expectation that all students remain in education,
training or employment until the end of the academic year in which they turn 18.
