Hairdressing at Burton Borough School

Course description

The course provides a fantastic opportunity to gain a good knowledge and understanding of the hairdressing industry. Within the first year you will complete NVQ level 1 which is based on a supervisory role. You will already be working within the industry as a hairdressing assistant and will be assessed on health and safety, assist with reception duties, contribute to the development of effective working relationships, shampoo and conditioning, prepare for hairdressing services and maintain work areas and assist with perming and colour services. Level 2 in the second year will include health and safety, shampoo and conditioning, reception duties and set and dress hair. You will also be required to complete key skills.

Entry requirements

Teacher assessed KS3 level 3/4, Good Attendance, Good tutor or school report and an interview.

Future opportunities

You may progress onto an Apprenticeship to achieve a full level 2 NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing. Progression to Level 2, Intermediate Level, Higher Diploma Level 2, BTEC First, NVQ 2, Apprenticeship, NOCN Level 2, C&G Level 2 in related subjects
