A2 Design & Technology (Food Tech) at The Beacon School
At AS, students will have the opportunity to study nutrition, design and making in the social context. Knowledge of food science and of a wide range of materials and components used in the making of food products will be developed. Students develop and solve current issues relating to the design and manufacture of food products. They will gain an understanding of industrial and commercial practices within the area of Food Technology. At A2, the specification offers students the opportunity to further develop the knowledge and practical skills from AS in a more industrial context. Students will continue to develop design work alongside an understanding of food science, processes and commercial food manufacture.
An A level in Food Technology will prepare you for higher education and a rewarding career in the food industry as, for example, a chef, food technologist, designer or nutritionist.
