Unit 1 : USA 1890 - 1945
Unit 1 - The USA 1890-1945.
The course covers how effectively the USA responded to change during this period. The
course covers:-
- The political system and role of the President,
- Mass Immigration
- The rise of Big Business
- Prohibition
- The KKK,
- The Wall Street Crash
- The growth of organised crime
- The impact of World War II.
- (Exam 1 hour 15 minutes. 50% of total AS)
Unit 2 - Anti-Semitism, Hitler and the German People 1919-1942.
The course covers:-
- Hitler’s anti-semitic views, law, propaganda,
- Polish Jews and the ghettos
- Euthanasia and the Holocaust.
(Exam 1 hour 30 minutes. 50% of total AS)

Unit 3 - The Making of Modern Britain 1951-2007.
The course covers:-
- The post war consensus and the end of consensus,
- Individuals such as Macmillan, Wilson and Thatcher
- Conservative decline and the rise of New Labour.
(Exam 1 hour 30 minutes. 30% of total A2 mark)
Unit 4 - Historical Enquiry of 3,500 words.
The taught aspect of the course will focus on the period 1689-1789 and explores possible
reason for the outbreak of the French Revolution in 1789.
(Internally assessed, moderated by AQA. 20% of A2 mark)
The Examination board is AQA.

Entry requirements

College entry requirements: 6 GCSE s at grades A*-C in six
different subjects including English and Maths
+ GCSE Grade B in History
