Design & Technology (Graphics) AS & A Level at Ashlyns School

Course description

This course enables students to develop their own creativity, capability and entrepreneurial skills, applying knowledge and understanding to a range of technological activities. Students will complete coursework on product design; manufacture and investigation; create a graphic product to a client specification; and explore designing for the future and D&T in practice.

Course content

The course tests students’ ability to develop and sustain their own innovation, to recognise constraints, to produce high quality products and to apply essential knowledge, understanding and skills of design production processes to a range of technological activities. Students will develop an understanding of industrial practices as well as critical evaluation skills in technical, aesthetic, economic, environmental, social and cultural contexts.

Entry requirements

Minimum Grade C in GCSE Graphic Products, Resistant Materials or Systems and Control.

Future opportunities

Graphic Products students have gone on to study Product Design, Graphic Design and Engineering at university.
