Course description

Choosing to study a business qualification is a great decision as it means that you'll have the opportunity to gain specific knowledge, understanding and skills that will equip you for starting a career in a wide range of industries such as Accountancy, Advertising, Banking, Fashion, Finance, Human Resources and Law. Additionally, you can also choose to move along a career path that may lead you to become a Stockbroker or to start your own business. Many of the essential business practices you will learn underpin every job you may have in the future from starting your own business to running a multi-national organisation.

Course content

Successful completion of the course can lead to employment in careers related to business, such Accountancy, Advertising, Banking, Fashion, Finance, Human Resources and Law. Many of our learners progress onto Degree, Foundation Degree or other professional courses.

Entry requirements

For students who have recently been in education, the profile is likely to include one of the following: -a Level 2 BTEC qualification in business or a related vocational area or four GCSEs at grade A*-C. Other related Level 2 qualifications and / or related work experience.

There is potential for the qualification to preparestudents for employment in the appropriate vocational sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to enter a particular area of work. It is broadly equivalent to three GCE A Levels. Some studentss may wish to gain the qualification in order to enter a specialist area of employment or to progress to a Level 3 programme.

Assessment

All students at Oaklands College take part in an initial assessment in Maths and English which helps us ensure that all learners are studying at the appropriate level. Throughout the course you will be continually assessed using a wide variety of practical and written assignments, which will test your knowledge and are used as evidence of achievment.

Financial information

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

Future opportunities

Functional Skills: During the course you will also be taught a functional skill in either Mathematics, English or Information Technology.
