French A level at The Littlehampton Academy
Have you always wondered what else there is to discover about France and the other French speaking countries other than their renowned food and famous fashion brands? Do you enjoy expressing your views in writing and speaking in French? Are you perhaps interested in becoming a translator, an interpreter or a journalist abroad? Would you like to learn the history of contemporary France? Are you also interested in sociology, sports, health issues, the media and many more cultural aspects? If the answer to any of these questions is YES then you would LOVE the study of French at A Level.
You will have the opportunity to learn how to express yourself in writing and speaking using a broader and higher variety of structures than at GCSE level. You will learn a wider range of tenses and debating skills alongside expert vocabulary in many cultural and sociological areas. These skills will allow you to look into, reflect and debate upon issues such as immigration, same sex marriage, the legalisation of drugs and other current affairs, topics that are current in France and other French speaking countries.
Minimum grade B in GCSE French.
A Level French is well regarded by universities and a degree in French can lead to such careers as translation, interpreting, journalism, teaching, and of course many opportunities in the tourism industry.
