Course description

This course will give you the knowledge and skills required to go on to higher education and pursue a career in this field.

Entry requirements

Year one:

  • core 1: algebra, coordinate geometry, polynomials, mathematical notation and proof
  • core 2: sequences and series, trigonometry, introductory calculus, logarithms
  • statistics: classification and presentation of data, probability, hypothesis testing

Year two:

  • core 3: proof, exponentials and natural logarithms, functions, calculus techniques, numerical methods
  • core 4: further algebra, further trigonometry, parametric equations, further calculus, vector geometry, comprehension
  • mechanics: vectors, kinematics, forces, projectiles

Assessment

  • maths at grade six/grade B or above
  • English language at grade four/grade C or above
  • three additional GCSEs at grade C or above

Financial information

  • exams are held at the end of modules in January and June of both the first and second years
  • assessed coursework is also taken in the second year

Future opportunities

FREE to UK/EU under 19s not in employment

Further information

  • progress to the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualications at the College
