Information and Communications Technology (Level 3) Advanced Apprenticeship at Central College Nottingham

Course description

This qualification is ideal for professionals who want to work in ICT support roles in public or private sector organisations. One of the great things about ICT is that you can work almost anywhere.

Course content

Subjects include:

  • Diploma in ICT Professional Competence
  • Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles

In addition:

  • Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT at Level 2. There are exemptions for the Functional Skills which will depend upon previously achieved qualifications
  • Employee Rights and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.

Entry requirements

You will need to demonstrate literacy, numeracy and ICT skills at Level 1 (assessed at Interview) and you should be able to meet the demands of a Level 3 qualification (the equivalent of an A level or NVQ Level 3).

Assessment

All units are assessed mainly by observation of workplace practice by an assessor. Additional evidence will be gained by verbal and/or written questioning and discussion to confirm skills and knowledge of workplace practice and procedures. These will be supplemented with witness testimonies from workplace supervisors. The evidence will be produced within an e-portfolio with contributions from both student and assessor.

Further information

A significant amount of the training and assessment is undertaken in the workplace. Alternatively workshops can be scheduled in the workplace or College environment.
