Cambridge Technicals ICT AS/A2 Level at Deyes High School
The Cambridge TEC qualifications offer opportunities to develop skills demanded by employers in the UK today. This course is designed for the more practical minded student and those studying in preparation for employment in the ICT sector, particularly in job roles where they will be expected to use ICT skills and liaise with users.
Cambridge Technicals is also for those wishing to gain a Level 3 qualification to study at university.
A varied range of coursework units ranging from theoretical units to multimedia based units. There are six units in total, 3 units at AS and 3 units at A2. All are coursework based meaning there is no examination.
Being coursework based will allow you to track your progression and have an up to date picture of the level you are performing at.
Outside speakers from industry are invited to give a real world perspective of the ICT industry. You will be taught by enthusiastic and supportive teachers in a specialised computer building.
Grade C in English and Maths.
All six units are assessed through a coursework portfolio. They are internally moderated to check students’ scores and are then externally moderated. Units are graded Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction*.
Those studying in preparation for employment in the Information and Communication Technology sector particularly in job roles where they will be expected to use ICT skills and liaise with users, usually applying for employment through apprenticeship.
This qualification will gain a Level 3 qualification for entry into university. The majority of students will go on to Higher Education taking an ICT related degree or employment within the IT Sector.
