Vehicle Maintenance Level 1 Diploma at Northumberland College

Course description

This course is for those who enjoy working on cars and related technology of the vehicle systems.

Course content

You will study units including using automotive workshop tools and equipment, how vehicle systems operate and what components they contain. Ideal if you would like to train for a career in the motor industry.

Entry requirements

You should have two GCSEs at Grade F or above or a relevant entry level qualification.


Your progress will be assessed by observations of your practical skills within the college workshops. Each unit of the qualification requires you to pass a multiple choice online assessment test.

Future opportunities

After completing the course you could move on to an apprenticeship with an employer or progress onto the City & Guilds 4290-12 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 2 course.
