In this topic we look at River environments, Coastal environments and Cold environments.
 
Managing change in Human Environments
 
In this topic we investigate: Managing urban change, The energy issue and The growth of tourism.
 
The A Level (Year 13) topics included on this course are:
 
Global Issues
 
In this topic we investigate: Earth hazards, Climatic hazards, Development and Inequalities, Globalisation.

Course content

Year 12 Geography

At Carshalton High School for Girls we study AQA Level Geography for Year 12.
The Year 12 topics included on this course are:
 
  • Coastal systems and landscapes
  • Hazards
  • Contemporary urban environments
  • Geographical Skills
Geography students have to undertake two days of fieldwork in Year 12. There will be a cost attached to these trips.
 
Component 3 of the A level geography exam is to submit a 3000-4000 word fieldwork investigation.  
 
Year 13 Geography
 

2016/17 will be the last year of teaching the OCR specification.

Global Issues
In this topic we investigate: Earth hazards, Climatic hazards, Development and Inequalities, Globalisation.

 

Entry requirements

The minimum requirements to do this A level are 5 A* - C grades in 5 different subjects including geography B grade or above.

•   Section B: Changing Places (covered in year 12)
•   Section C: Population and environment
 
Component 3 Geographical Investigation
20% of total A2
 
3,000 - 4,000 word report
