Chemistry is all around us. Chemistry is about our lives and how we build our world for future generations. Chemistry is interesting and relevant since it affects every part of modern life. Solutions are continually being found to everyday problems.
It concerns materials, water treatment, communications, air quality, energy conservation, pain relief, food. The list is endless.
What skills will I gain from studying A Level Chemistry?

AQA Chemistry A-Level
Unit 1- Foundation Chemistry including atomic structure, periodicity and organic
Unit 2- Chemistry In Action including kinetics, alkenes and analytical techniques
Unit 4- Kinetics, equilibria and organic chemistry
Unit 5- Energetics, redox and inorganic chemistry
Unit 3 & 6- Investigative and practical skills
A genuine interest and enthusiasm for Chemistry. A minimum grade B must be obtained at GCSE Science/Additional Science or GCSE Chemistry.
80% is assessed by written examination papers. 20% involves the carrying out of practical tasks followed by a written paper. Practical skills are also assessed throughout the duration of the course.
It may lead to a career in health and clinical professions such as medicine, nursing, biochemistry, dentistry or forensic science or perhaps a career in industry; for example petrochemicals or pharmaceuticals. The transferable skills which Chemistry develops are extremely well thought of in many sectors including finance and accountancy.
