Why choose NVQ Hospitality & Catering?
This qualification is suitable for you if you wish to develop a career in professional cookery. It offers a flexible selection of units, and as well as professional food preparation and kitchen management skills you will develop valuable retail skills and experience in organising and managing large-scale catering events. There is also the opportunity for you to gain vital business skills by becoming involved in running in-house catering concessions such as Scholar’s Café.
You will be trained by professional chefs with years of experience who will challenge and inspire you to achieve advanced culinary and front-of-house skills. During the course we can also help you in starting up your own hospitality and catering company through our Darwen Creates business development programme. We provide you with support to resit GCSE Maths and GCSE English if required.

Upon completion of Levels 1 and 2 you will have the skills and knowledge to either start your own business, commence employment as a professional chef, begin one of our Apprenticeships or progress to Level 3.
After completing Level 3 you will have the theoretical knowledge and skills to be able to progress onto a university degree in Hospitality, Hotel Management, Culinary Arts or similar. We have strong links with the University of Derby at Buxton who are recognised as the best UK university for degrees in Hospitality, Event Management, Hotel Management and Culinary Arts.
At least 3 GCSE Grade Ds.
More qualified or experienced students may be able to commence the Level 2 course.
