BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business at St John Rigby College
This course is exciting and challenging with a strongly practical approach. The four core units provide an overview of the business environment, business resources and marketing. These are essential components to the success of any business. The specialist units will prepare you for either employment or further study. What is the difference between A Level Business Studies and BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business Studies? As the BTEC Diploma is worth 3 A Levels over the 2 years the majority of your timetable will be spent studying and completing coursework for this subject. The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business is therefore suitable for those students who are seriously considering a career in this area.The A Level Business Studies course provides a more flexible route for your studies, since you can combine it with up to three other subjects. Whilst there are no coursework deadlines to meet you will have to successfully complete 4 examinations over the 2 years.The subject content for both the BTEC and A Level courses is similar, and either route can lead towards a successful career in business.
This is a two year course and is equivalent to three A-Levels. You will study 18 units which will include: The Business Environment; Business Resources; Introduction to Marketing; Business Communication; Recruitment and Selection in Business and Starting a Small Business.This is a practical course which will give you an opportunity to complete assignments based on realistic business situations linked to real life case studies. It will prepare you well for further study on a business related course or on to employment.Please note that you will have to be very well organised and enjoy spending time working through a range of individual tasks outside college since this course is entirely assessed through coursework.
5 A*-C GCSE Grades (including English Language C).
This course is assessed by coursework only. You will complete nine pieces in your first year and nine pieces in your second year. You must be very self-disciplined in being able to meet a number of coursework deadlines simultaneously.
This course provides you with a wide range of career opportunities, including setting up your own business, working in management, accounting, banking, marketing and retail management. This course also prepares you for further study at degree level in related areas such as Marketing, Finance, Business Management and Accounting.
