Course description

This course is for anyone who has entered into employment as a carpenter or joinery apprentice and requires a formal qualification in this area.

Course content

You will study exciting units including: Employment Rights & Responsibilities (ERR) Health, safety & welfare in construction & associated industries Understanding information, quantities & communication with others Knowledge of construction technology Prepare & use carpentry & joinery portable power tools Set up & operate cutting & shaping machinery Produce setting out details for routine joinery products Manufacture routine joinery products Functional skills level 1 (Maths & English)

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are necessary but an interest in carpentry and joinery is essential and applicants must progress through our selection procedure which consists of an initial assessment and interview.

Assessment

Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including practical assessments/ observations, written assignments, and identification tests.

Future opportunities

After completing the course you could study a advanced apprenticeship to include:- NVQ level 3 in Bench Joinery Diploma level 3 In Bench Joinery Functional skills at level 2 (Maths & English)
